I traveled from the Bethany House in Saclepea on a two-plus hour mud road trip to the village of Bahn Liberia.
This part of the village has a school of approximately 132 students grades k-8. This school is located on the grounds of an orphanage of 20 orphans. Mr. & Mrs. Tomah started this orphanage to care for these kids in 2004. They farm to feed and clothe these children. Mrs. Esther Tomah recently had to quit her government job due to health issues. They are in charge of the registration at the school where they hire qualified teachers. Pastors Dennis & Theresa Jartah recently went there and started a much-needed church. Mr. & Mrs. Tomah accepted Christ as their personal Savior and now have a living God whom they are serving, teaching the children in the orphanage and the school about Jesus Christ.
Since it was a school day when I was visiting the village...Mrs. Jarteh didn't think we would have many over 15 children attend my Bible class. However...God had other plans! In true African style....132 children showed up! They sat in rapt attention as I told the story of Magudu, a boy from Nigeria who heard about the Wordless Book from a missionary and accepted Christ. After sharing the story with his 3 brothers he reluctantly cut his beloved Wordless Book into 4 parts in order to share with his 3 brothers. He then realized that even though his book is now smaller, it tells the same wonderful story!
I proceeded to hand out little Wordless Books to each child so they too can share in the Good News of Jesus.
Request: Please pray for this dear couple as they continue to trust God for the provision and the healing of Esther. Also, we are looking for support for these orphans...see how you can get involved.
