Scholarships

One of the frequent questions that children in our primary and secondary schools and orphanages ask, is "Will you stop supporting me when I finish high school?

For quite some time this question haunted us, because we know how hard it is for high school graduates to land a suitable job with that level of education, and at the time we had no program in place to raise funds to help further boost a child's prospects for post secondary schooling.

In 2022, a generous donor provided "seed" funds to help WEO initiate a college scholarship program, named after the late James E Sykes, who was a strong believer and generous donor supporting students attending post secondary schools.  This scholarship program is designed to be self sustaining, and in fact has begun to provide modest tuition support for a few students attending western Africa colleges and universities.  WEO's own Makripodis College is one of the secondary schools that provides excellent scholastic training in several fields of study, and serves as our primary recommendation to students desiring to further their education.   The cost of tuition, room and board for one year of study at MCTMT runs approximately $1,000 per student.

Although this program is beginning to show signs of productivity, WEO humbly requests your support in sponsoring a greater number of students through this scholarship program.  Please consider donating to this very worthy cause.  Sponsorships of $1,000 for an entire academic year or $85 per month are available.
